Applications are invited for a full time fixed term (until 25/09/2020) Research Fellow position at the University of Southampton. You will join a research project into the development of foundations in chalk, primarily for railway overhead line equipment.
You must have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in geomechanics, with a detailed understanding and knowledge of CT scanning and image processing of soft rock specimens. Other requirements include knowledge of advanced element testing, laboratory set up and numerical analysis, and advanced image analysis of chalk. Experience of large scale field testing would be advantageous.
You will be required to undertake laboratory and outside work.
Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
