We seek an enthusiastic and well-motivated researcher to work on this project. You should have a PhD* or equivalent professional qualification and research experience in palaeomagnetism, geomagnetism, or a related field. A detailed understanding and knowledge of techniques and uncertainties involved in the reconstruction of palaeomagnetic records is required. Experience of managing and organising large research datasets and knowledge in data analysis methods such as filed modelling, statistical and time series analysis are desirable. You should be a good team-worker and excellent communicator, and you will be visiting and working together with collaborators from the UK, Germany, and USA. You are also expected to travel to International Ocean Discovery Programme (IODP) core repositories to collect additional project samples when needed.

You will be hosted in Ocean and Earth Science (OES) at the University of Southampton. * Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
