Applications are invited for a Research Fellow in the Cyber Security Research Group and Computer Science at the University of Southampton, to work on a project entitled “VAC+: Verifier of Access Control”. This is a one-year grant, funded by EPSRC. The project has a particular emphasis on the development of automated verification techniques and tools for access control that enable detection of security breaches in a systematic and symbolic way.

The successful candidate will undertake work covering the enhancement and application of the VAC framework to handle a larger class of access control models. This involves further development of the VAC framework including tool specification, design, implementation, testing, and review.

Candidates should possess a *PhD in software engineering, computer science, or a closely related discipline, a strong background in the analysis and verification of systems, including a good general knowledge of the security of access control systems and strong programming and software engineering skills.

The candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to organise his/her own work with minimal supervision and prioritise work to meet deadlines. Preference will be given to applicants with a proven research record and publications in the relevant areas.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to: Dr. Anna Lisa Ferrara (af1y10@ecs.soton.ac.uk) Principal Investigator of the project.
