The Faculty of Arts is one of the largest and most diverse faculties at the University of Melbourne, Australia's premier university and #32 in the world. The Asia Institute is the University of Melbourne’s key centre for studies in Asian languages and cultures, closely linked with other Schools and Faculties across the University and offering programs with strong interdisciplinary focus.

The Institute is now seeking to appoint an outstanding Professor/ Associate Professor to make significant contributions to academic programs and standing. He or she will lead the course design, content and delivery of the Master of Translation and undertake independent teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels in translation and translation studies. Enhancing opportunities for industry engagement in the Master of Translation will be an important development for the program's future success. 

The successful applicant will be a committed and engaging teacher and researcher in Chinese Studies, particularly in the discipline of translation, whose versatility will complement and help develop the Institute’s strengths in the Master in Translation and related doctoral (PhD) program at the University of Melbourne. Reporting to the Head of School, the Professor / Associate Professor will make a leading contribution to the shaping of Translation and the Asia Institute. He/she will provide high level of expertise in research, teaching, industry engagement and work integrated learning at the graduate level and will contribute to enhancing the Institutes’ overall reach and influence externally.
