Postdoctoral Research Fellowship
Title: Sustainable wood building development
Scope of Research: The research relates to sustainable wood building, and development of novel wood-based building materials in South Africa.
The postdoctoral candidate will have the opportunity to work on individual research as well as working within a team (industry professionals, doctoral, masters and honours level students), and in addition, gaining experience in product development and training.
This research is conducted within the Department of Forest and Wood Science at the Faculty of AgriSciences and carries an associated full grant-holder bursary for the successful applicant.
Host: This will be a project based at the Department of Forest and Wood Science, Stellenbosch University.
PhD (must have graduated within the last five years);
- Previous research experience in wood-based product development, life cycle assessment research, fast-grown plantation hardwood (Eucalyptus) wood properties, project management and training;
- Familiarity with SA wood-based materials, timber building industry and training;
- Computing literacy, with emphasis on Microsoft Office, Excel, CAD or other similar programmes.
Please note that postdoctoral fellows are not appointed as employees and are therefore not eligible for employee benefits. Postdoctoral fellowships are also awarded tax free.
