The Center for Decision Neuroscience (Faculty of Psychology, University of Basel, Switzerland) is seeking applicants for an SNF-funded 3-year PhD position. Successful candidates will get the opportunity to work towards their PhD in Psychology. The position is part of a research project on neural and cognitive interactions between decision making and memory, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF). The research will comprise developing and testing computational models of behavior as well as applying neuroimaging techniques such as fMRI and EEG. The project also involves national and international collaborations (Basel, Germany, USA).

Applicants will become part of the Graduate School on Social, Economic, and Decision Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology and an English-speaking environment at the University of Basel. In addition to the PhD salary, expenses for running experiments and for visiting international conferences are covered by the SNF grant.

The ideal candidate would have an M.Sc. in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience or a related field and should be interested in cognitive neuroscience and quantitative research methods. Prior experience with the analysis of fMRI/EEG data and in particular with computational modeling of memory and/or decision making processes is highly desirable.

Review of applications will start on the 29th of May and will continue until the position is filled.

The recently established Center for Decision Neuroscience is directed by Prof. Dr. Sebastian Gluth. We have access to a research-dedicated 3-Tesla MR scanner, a 64-channel EEG-system, and facilities for behavioral, eye-tracking, and psychophysiological measures. The lab is part of the growing Faculty of Psychology at the University of Basel, one of the leading research universities in Europe. Basel is situated at the river Rhine right at the border to France and Germany. It's a great place to live and work.
