The Department of Engineering Mathematics, University of Bristol, is seeking to appoint a Lecturer. The post will either be in our Pathway 1 job family (Research, Teaching and Citizenship) or in our Pathway 3 job family (Teaching and Citizenship). 


A candidate is sought with a strong track record of interdisciplinary research and/or teaching that is consistent with the aims and ethos of the Department. Engineering Mathematics has a unique brand to offer its students, and is the only Department of its kind in the country. It prides itself on offering students a tool kit with which to solve real-world problems.  A passion for innovation in teaching and in research-led teaching is essential.  Interest in developing innovative ways of integrating teaching and research, and linking our teaching with end users including industry, is particularly welcomed. We especially encourage female applicants to apply for the position. 


This post is being offered on a full-time, fixed-term contract for 4 years, but applicants seeking a part-time or fractional appointment are also encouraged to apply. You will be expected to take an active role in providing high quality and innovative teaching in several areas of Engineering Mathematics across the Department at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Areas of the curriculum consist broadly of mathematics, engineering and computing, with particular specialisms in data science, artificial intelligence, nonlinear dynamics, robotics, and computational and engineering biology. 


The Department of Engineering Mathematics has an excellent teaching environment and is ranked first in the UK for General Engineering in the 2020 Guardian University League Tables.  This position also offers an opportunity to join a globally recognized, highly collaborative group of researchers.
