The School of Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Engineering Maths, University of Bristol, is seeking to appoint a number of Lecturers (analogous to Assistant Professor),or Senior Lecturer, in Data Science, the level of appointment depending on the experience of the successful candidate.
The School has recently launched a new Data Science MSc programme as the first of a suite of programmes designed for delivery at our Temple Quarter Campus, due to be opened in 2023. Recruitment of students for the new programmes is progressing above expectations and we are looking for high calibre data scientists to lead the programme and a number of the teaching units and to develop the pedagogy for the programme to fit with our ethos at Temple Quarter.
Teaching will cover areas including Software Development: Programming & Algorithms; Large-Scale Data Engineering; Technology, Innovation, Business, & Society; Text Analytics; Visual Analytics.
The School is particularly strong in the areas of Cyber security, Cryptography, Artificial Intelligence, computer Vision and machine learning and is building strong partnerships with industry centred on applications of data science across a range of sectors.
The University also benefits from the work of the jean Golding Institute, a University Research Institute which provides a central hub for data science and data-intensive research across disciplines at the university.
You will be responsible for your own research programme, will be responsible for undertaking independent research (if appointed to Pathway 1), teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, and carrying out appropriate administrative tasks.
