An exciting opportunity has arisen in Faculty Central for a Research Excellence Framework Officer to make an important contribution to demonstrating Southampton’s strategic ambition and commitment to world-class research.

As a Research Excellence Framework Officer, you will manage the research administration function in the Faculty of Environmental and Life Sciences in preparation for REF 2021, and support the delivery of strategic and operational services within the Faculty. This post requires a self-motivated and proactive individual to provide operational direction and management of a busy administrative workload as well as working closely with the Associate Dean (Research) and providing specialist advice to senior academic colleagues.

You will have knowledge of higher education and research-led environments, and previous experience of working with and supporting senior academic colleagues to investigate and resolve business critical issues, and of managing significant projects. This will require demonstration of excellent communication skills, excellent time management skills, and the ability to build and maintain good working relationships both within and outside the organisation. In particular, you will have excellent writing skills and be able to identify the key elements necessary to build impact case studies and understand what key evidence is required to corroborate impact.
