The Department of Mathematics at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was established in June of 2015. After two years of rapid growth, currently in the department there are 31 research-teaching faculty members including 6 chair professors, 6 full professors, 7 associate professors, 9 tenure-track assistant professors and 3 visiting assistant professors. There are also 11 teaching faculty members.
The department offers undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Financial Mathematics. It also has joint graduate programs with Harbin Institute of Technology and a number of well-known oversea/non-mainland universities; In January 2018, the Academic degree office of the state council has been approved our department the first-level master and doctor disciplines of mathematics, which we will recruit our own masters and doctors in September 2019.
Research interests of our faculty members cover a broad array of areas including Mathematics (dynamical systems, algebra and combinatorics, algebraic number theory, PDEs, mathematical physics and differential geometry), Computational and Applied Mathematics, Probability and Statistics, and Financial Mathematics.
Our department is young and vibrant. It is expected to grow rapidly over the coming years. We are actively recruiting new faculty members, postdocs, visitors and graduate students in all areas of mathematics.
