Full Time Faculty Positions -- Bahrain Teachers College, University of Bahrain

Affiliated with the University of Bahrain, the Bahrain Teachers College (BTC) is responsible for all teacher preparation and in-service teacher professional development in Bahrain. The College offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as professional development for in-service educators, with the commitment to provide leadership in the modernization of Bahrain’s educational system. The language of instruction is either English or Arabic, depending on the course. BTC was founded in 2008 through a partnership with Singapore’s National Institute of Education. BTC is a cornerstone of the country’s national human capital plans, and it is currently undergoing an expansion to meet the needs of teacher and school leader development. 

 

Requirements:

  • Graduate degree from accredited and internationally recognized university in one of these following fields: literacy (early reading, adolescent reading, language development, etc.); English or Arabic language; STEM education; primary/early childhood education; educational leadership; inclusive/special education and/or instructional technology. 

  • Teaching experience at the primary, intermediate, and/or secondary level is highly desired.

  • Experience leading teacher professional development is highly desired.

  • Scholarly background demonstrating a current or potential active research program in literacy, early reading, adolescent reading, integrated STEM education, early childhood education, special/inclusive education, Arabic, English as a second language, or school leadership. 

  • Record of excellence in teaching in higher education and/or teacher professional development.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses to undergraduate and postgraduate students in either the English or Arabic language.

  • Work directly with teachers in the public school system.

  • Develop and deliver programming to support private school educators. 

  • Pursue scholarly collaborations with university faculty and school teachers.  

  • Pursue a research agenda relevant to the specialization of the position.  

  • Provide service to the college, the university, and to the wider community.
