The Faculty of Biological Sciences is a leading faculty within the University, spanning fundamental biological research as well as interfacing with many other disciplines, delivering on research that is both excellent and impactful. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, and a member of the University Executive Group, the Executive Dean will play an important role in the leadership of the University, shaping strategic direction and delivering associated plans. Within the Faculty of Biological Sciences, the Executive Dean will lead the delivery of an exceptional student experience; excellent research, innovation and impact; and meaningful academic and business partnerships, nationally and internationally. 

Alongside significant experience of senior leadership of an appropriate scale, the successful candidate will bring an outstanding and highly credible academic track record across research and education.With operational management experience, especially in leading and embedding change, combined with sound financial acumen, candidates will need to offer a contemporary and ambitious vision for the advancement of the biological sciences. Candidates should evidence an ability to inspire and lead the design and implementation of a Faculty strategy that reflects the University’s strategic ambitions, developed in collaboration with colleagues, students and industry partners. The Executive Dean will be expected to raise the profile of both the Faculty and University and therefore it is important that candidates have good interpersonal and communication skills and enjoy engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
