In the last 12 months we have invested in the expansion of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team and there is a genuine commitment from the very top of the University to see our ED&I vision be realised. This truly is a unique opportunity to play a key role in practically shaping cultural change and engaging our University community in our ED&I vision, helping staff and students see where we are heading and how they can play a role in getting there.
We are looking for an individual who has excellent people skills that will help us engage with the University Community and ED&I. For us that means that you can establish trusting relationships from the outset, have great listening skills and that you have an open and non-judgemental attitude; you will be able to listen to and talk about difficult and complex issues objectively.
You will have experience of leading or playing a key role in developing and maintaining successful networks of interest or community. You will understand and have experience of how to get things done through others.
You will be working closely with the Equality Communications and Engagement Manager and the wider ED&I team, actively supporting the delivery of the ED&I communication and engagement plan. You will have good written and verbal communication, including understanding how to write about complex issues in an engaging way. You will also work to ensure that all the different communications channels, including internal and external web pages are accessible, engaging, up to date and relevant to the different audiences.
You will also assist with the governance of ED&I activities in the University, and will understand the importance of having clear governance mechanisms in place and be familiar with logically organising information in a way that allows others to easily navigate it.
We are especially welcoming applications from individuals who come from diverse backgrounds and who have lived the experience of being one of only a few in a predominately white, heterosexual and middle-class space.
We are happy to consider applicants at 0.8FTE and consider flexible working arrangements. However, it is unlikely that this will support a candidate who requires a Certificate of Sponsorship.
If you have any questions then please send them to email@example.com
If a sufficient number of applications are received this vacancy may close earlier than the date specified at the top of this advert. Therefore, if interested in applying for this vacancy we recommend you submit your completed application form as soon as possible.
We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
