The University of Southampton Clinical Informatics Research Unit (CIRU) is based at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust. The unit is a growing part of the medical school and part of the CRUK Clinical Centre. This role is part of a team of twenty-three members of staff and the successful applicant will be working within a development team of six.

We have a vacancy for a dotnet Programmer to undertake work in further developing an existing solution we provide as part of the Clinical Informatics Research Unit. The applicant should have an excellent knowledge of C#, .NET MVC, dotnet core, SQL and JavaScript/ES6. Experience with any front-end frameworks such as Aurelia, Ember or Angular would be extremely beneficial to the role, as would exposure to modern tooling such as Webpack, Gulp and Docker. The applicant should be an experienced programmer with proven skills in the design development and delivery of websites in a variety of systems. Other skills that would be advantageous include CI/CD, source control and general programming theory.

The main function of this role is to work with an existing team of programmers and testers to further develop EDGE, a leading clinical trials management system. The system is well established across the UK and Canada and we have many opportunities for enhancing and integrating the software into various arenas both nationally and internationally.

There are also opportunities to work on other software projects in medicine as well as in the development of support tools and frameworks.

The applicant should be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in programming and web development. They should also show initiative and creativity that can bring new ideas and approaches to our software.
