The Bristol Doctoral College (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/doctoral-college/) was created in 2013 to support and grow this doctoral research community, and this current role is a key component of the dynamic team. The Bristol Doctoral College is in an exciting period of development with a prominent place in the new University Strategy to expand research capacity by growing the PGR community in Bristol.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Bristol Doctoral College management team, The strategic role is focused on proactive engagement with international opportunities for doctoral training and development. In this capacity, the post holder’s key areas of work and responsibilities will include:
1.To develop and manage relationships with international stakeholders, both funding agencies and university partners;
2.To further develop mechanisms to enhance the recruitment of international PhD students;
3.To lead, and contribute to, the setting-up of structures which will enable doctoral research partnerships to evolve, including Cotutelle/Shared supervision educational arrangements; and
4.To ensure that the support structures and training within Bristol are adequate for the needs of international doctoral students.
The post holder will be working with other key players to deliver the University’s strategic plan for Internationalisation and PGR growth. Supporting the BDC Director and Manager, the role holder will manage the University’s strategic PGR partnerships with international universities. The post holder will coordinate interactions between academic communities in Bristol and abroad to set up prestigious doctoral training programmes in areas of research, aligned with the University’s strategic priorities.
The role will entail international travel in order to meet with international stakeholders and prospective students.
