The Department of Mass Communication and Media (MCM) invites applications for three open-rank, full-time positions. All candidates are expected to hold a PhD in a relevant field and have a demonstrated record of scholarly achievement. Interest in, or experience with, community engagement and experiential learning is highly desirable. All instruction is in English.
The ideal candidate will have a mix of academic and technical expertise in the area of digital media production. Teaching responsibilities include fundamentals of broadcasting, field production courses, visual storytelling, advanced A/V production and workflow, and mass media management. Additional skills such as radio or television broadcast production, cinematography, animation, or motion graphics are a major asset. The candidate will teach in our new emphasis with a focus on multimedia production on set, on location, and online.
The Department of Mass Communication and Media offers a B.A. degree with concentrations in public relations and advertising, visual communication, and digital media production. There are approximately 600 majors overall with the largest majority concentrating in PR. The MCM department prides itself on an active and collegial academic environment with a strong commitment to experiential learning. The department and university are accredited both locally and internationally. The departmental teaching load is 3 sections per semester.
